This is a dual-degree programme, which we have developed together with our German counterparts, University of Applied Sciences Karlsruhe (HsKA). This 9-semester programme aims to equip the students with fundamental automotive engineering knowledge and practical know-how, in addition to both German and English communication skills. The students will not only be taught by enthusiastic lecturers and professors from UMP, but also by flying professors (German professors from HsKA), who fly all the way from Germany to Malaysia to teach the students. Graduates from this programme will receive 2 degrees, one from UMP, and the other one from HsKA Germany. The graduates have a very high employability rate, where most of them were offered to work in German companies as well as other multinational companies all around Malaysia.

Programme Objectives and Outcomes

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO)

PEO 1
Graduates are competent, responsible and practise professionalism in the global context.

PEO 2
Graduates are knowledgeable and capable to apply the evolving technology in mechanical and automotive engineering field.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (PO)

Program outcomes (POs) are specific statements of graduates’ knowledge, skills and attitudes (EAC Manual 2012) that are the evidences in the programme objective achievements. Consistent with world-class mechanical engineering programme, the following list are the twelve programme outcomes for the Bachelor of Automotive Engineering Programme (BHA). The Bachelor of Automotive Engineering ensures that their students attain:

PO1 ENGINEERING KNOWLEDGE: An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an automotive engineering specialisation to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2 PROBLEM ANALYSIS: An ability to identify, formulate, research literature and analyse complex automotive engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.
PO3 DESIGN/DEVELOPMENT OF SOLUTIONS: An ability to design solutions for complex mechanical-automotive engineering problems and design systems, components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4 INVESTIGATION: An ability to conduct investigation into complex problems using research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5 MODERN TOOL USAGE: An ability to create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modelling, to complex automotive engineering activities, with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6 THE ENGINEER AND SOCIETY: An ability to apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice.
PO7 ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY: An ability to understand the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of and need for sustainable development.
PO8 ETHICS: An ability to apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of engineering practice.
PO9 COMMUNICATION: An ability to communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
PO10 INDIVIDUAL AND TEAM WORK: An ability to function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams and in multi-disciplinary setting.
PO11 LIFE LONG LEARNING: An ability to recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
PO12 PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND FINANCE: An ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

PO - PEO MAPPING

The PO’s were designed to support the achievement of the PEO. The assessment of the POs achievement is thus useful to indicate the attainment of the PEOs. Table 2 shows the mapping of the programme educational objectives to the programme outcomes.

Entry Requirements

SYARAT AM UNIVERSITI

Lulus Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / Setaraf dengan mendapat kepujian dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia atau kepujian Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia Kertas Julai,

dan

Lulus Peperiksaan Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 3.00 dan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya:

- Gred C (NGMP 2.00) mata pelajaran Pengajian Am; dan
- Gred C (NGMP 2.00) dalam dua (2) mata pelajaran lain,

dan

Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Tahap 2 (Band 2) dalam Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

KEPERLUAN KHAS PROGRAM

Mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred C (NGMP 2.00) pada peringkat STPM dalam mata pelajaran berikut :
